Girls on the Move

Over the past couple of months it has been extremely disappointing to see the reduction in the numbers attending the Girls Group.  Obviously this has a huge impact on how we take this group forward, and I have to say at the moment unless numbers increase the group will have to fold at the end of June.

Fortunately, we have an Outdoor Pursuits Group at the Pennypit Special Needs Youth Club, that if in the event of the Girls Group folding, we would offer everyone a place within this group.  This group however is a mixed group of young people.

We are however desperately trying to keep the girls group going as we do realise that the girls that we do have coming on a regularly basis thoroughly enjoy it.  If you know of any girls aged 15-24 with additional support needs who reside in East Lothian and might like to join the group, please get them to fill out an application which is downloadable from our website – www.psnyc.co.uk, and send it to myself – Jackie Munro at the Pennypit Centre.

We will keep everyone posted regarding the position of the group to let you all know if it will be viable to continue after the summer or not.

Membership Forms

Each year we ask that if a young person is returning to the Girls Group after the summer holidays, that they fill out a new membership form.  This is simply to ensure that we have the most up to date information, and that you have signed to confirm that all details are correct at that time.  We are also required to ask that you sign a declaration regarding outings and the taking of photographs on a yearly basis.  Could everyone who is returning to the Girls Group after the summer please fill out the enclosed form as soon as possible and return it to the Youth Club by Monday 1st June at the latest.  This therefore enables us to re-allocate spaces prior to the summer holidays where required.

Drop In

Commencing Wednesday 26th August, we are hoping to start a drop in at the Pitstop Café for over 21’s only, from 7-9pm every Wednesday.  The drop in will be in the Pitstop Café where young adults with additional support needs can come along and meet up with their friends and have a coffee and a chat or a bite to eat!  We will also offer some workshops i.e. scrapbooking, arts and crafts etc.  In addition to this we will have pool

Absences from the Girls Group

If a young person is going to be absent from the Girls Group, then it is extremely beneficial for us if you notify us regarding this.  Failure to do this could mean holding up an activity whilst we wait on a member’s arrival!

Even when someone is absent from the Group we unfortunately are still required to take their membership fee for that week.

If a young person is absent from the Girls Group for 3 weeks without making contact with the Club then their membership is withdrawn.
