ITALIAN EXCHANGE 2009

 

The Youth Club will be involved in an Italian Exhange to the mountain village of Ciriliagno from Saturday 29th August - Saturday 5th September 2009. We will be departing from Edinburgh Airport at 07.10hrs on 29th August, flying to Amsterdam, and then catching a connecting flight to Naples. At Naples we will travel down by bus to Potenza, where we will be picked up and taken up the mountains to the village of Ciriliagno.

Saturday

Back from a fantastic week in Italy. Travelling a bit much, left at 4am this morning, and arrived in Edinburgh at 7pm tonight.

Friday

Thought we'd better log on now, as the locals are all deep in preparations at the moment getting ready to put on a party for us tonight in the local square!!! The sun is still bursting out of the sky here and we are all enjoying the shade from ...it with the big umbrellas whilst we make t-shirts for our secret friends. Anyway leaving at 5am tomorrow morning, and should hopefully be home by around 7.30pm!

Thursday

Today has been another scorcher folks, so we have had to take it a bit easier today. Anyway, we finished the paperwork for the final report, had some fun by the pool, then made some pasta with some local ladies from the village! Steve is absolutely hyper tonight, and the youths are trying to calm him down a little, Mark asked him to "grow up Steve"!!!!! See ya all tomorrow.

Wednesday

Been to the Adventure Park today, Kenny and Steve did Tree Top Walking, Steve fell off (unfortunately he was saved by his harness)!!! Jackie and Vicky did a 3 mile bike ride, and Mark and Nicole did some archery. We had a picnic in the park which was lovely, then back to Ciriligano for the night time entertainment (yipee)!!!! Sorry folks, internet connection is very limited in Ciriligano, and therefore uploading photos is just not happening!!! You'll just all have to contain your excitement until we get back on Saturday!!!

Tuesday

We visited  Matera, which is a city carved out of stone. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, but were really knackered as it was 34. Steve sampled some of the locally produced Baileys ice cream, it was rocket fuel, they poured a... whole shot of Baileys over one scoop of ice cream! Everyone enjoying the local community, and participating in the evenings entertainment, drinking, singing and dancing.

Monday

The boys have been away bee keeping today (all suited and booted off course). Kenny's luck has changed, he found 10 euros in the pool - drinks are apparently on him tonight - yeeha! We were all at the National Park today and had a shot at making honey straight from the bee hives, and have been in the pool today. Sorry no photos yet folks, but we are working on that as I type. Sunday

We left at 4.30am yesterday and arrived in the village of Ciriliagno at 11pm last night (was absolutely knackered), anyway had to show our appreciation for the Italian hospitality and eat a 3 course meal at 11pm at night. Weather fantastic in the pool with the youths at the moment.
