Opening Monday 30th March 2009
The Pitstop Café is a new social enterprise opening up at the Pennypit Centre in Prestonpans under the umbrella of the Pennypit Special Needs Youth Club, who are a registered charity.
The Pitstop Cafe will offer work based training opportunities to young people in East Lothian with additional support needs, whilst also offering work experience to pupils from Preston Lodge High School and a placement for a Duke of Edinburgh Award participant.
Café staff includes Jackie Munro who is the Manager/Development Officer for both the Pennypit Special Needs Youth Club and also the Pitstop Café, Edna Currie who is the Catering Supervisor and also Marion Hamilton who has taken up the post of Catering Assistant.
Opening hours for the café will be Monday – Friday from 9am – 2.45pm when light snacks and refreshments will be served throughout the day, which include paninis, baked potatoes, toasties, sandwiches, soup and home baking. Breakfast rolls will be available from 9.45 – 11am, and lunch will be served from 12 noon – 1.30pm.
A business alliance has been established between the café and Starbucks, which will enable us to prepare and sell Seattle’s Best Coffee.
